We Believe in Making a Difference

RealTerm Energy actively practices Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR):

  • We continually seek to lead by example and continuously improve all aspects of our business, wherever we can
  • Our energy is focused on initiatives that strengthen our communities and neighborhoods, enhance and protect our environment, and support our diverse workforce
  • We strive to make a difference in the communities where we are engaged. Whenever possible, we do our best to use the occasions of street light conversions and installations to benefit specific member groups that can be found locally

For example, to perform the more manual aspects of the recycling process (separating the metals from the other components in the discarded fixtures), we can use local community resources that hire individuals with physical or other challenges who can execute the work in a progressive and cooperative environment. As a result, the funds paid go to rehabilitation and other needs of the specific community.

In Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, RealTerm Energy and our local installation company engaged Brain Injury Community Recovery Niagara to assist with the project’s recycling efforts. In Niagara Falls, Ontario, we contracted with the Bright Lights, Bright Futures program of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Niagara for a similar mandate.

In both instances, RealTerm Energy and local installer Ground Arial Maintenance Service (GAMS) each contributed one dollar per fixture to these associations, over $18,000 in all, to help fund their ongoing efforts to make a difference to those in need.

Through our contacts with such organizations, we endeavor to use local associations where where this type of work can provide a satisfying, rehabilitative and income-producing opportunity for those in need.

To mark Earth Day 2018, RealTerm Energy employees participated in a workshop where they built small solar panels that can be used to charge a cell phone or other small electronic device when the user does not have access to a power outlet. Our finished products were donated to Chez Doris, a charitable organization, located in downtown Montreal, that offers a daytime shelter for all women in difficulty.

Old Brewery Mission

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, a group of RealTerm Energy employees helped out at the Old Brewery Mission in Montreal. Using paid volunteer hours that make up a part of the firm’s CSR policy, team members jumped at the chance to do some good. In addition to delivering a monetary donation on behalf of RealTerm Energy, the group rolled up their sleeves and helped in the Mission’s kitchen by serving up food to its diners on a rainy October night.

"The Earth is all we have in common".

Wendell Berry

Last spring, RealTerm Energy team members got their hands dirty. The whole Montreal office took an afternoon off to help clean up Montreal’s Mount Royal Park after a long, messy winter and share in their common goal of environmentalism.
