Simcoe County News Features Barrie's Upcoming LED Streetlight Upgrade

June 09, 2015

Simcoe County News (simcoe.com) is reporting on the upcoming LED streetlight conversion in the City of Barrie. The Municipality chose Local Authority Services (LAS) and RealTerm Energy to act as project manager and installer of the LED upgrade. Crews will soon begin installing LED streetlights across Barrie’s 10,660-light system. The new LEDs are expected to reduce energy consumption by 66% and maintenance costs by 80%. Energy savings are forecast to equate to 542 metric tonnes of greenhouse gases each year - the equivalent of the carbon sequested by 13,897 tree seedlings grown for 10 years.

To date, more than 115 municipalities have also engaged RealTerm Energy and LAS to provide their LED upgrades.
