Cornwall, New York (February 28, 2023) – We are thrilled to partner with the Town of Cornwall, New York to make big strides towards a greener, smarter, and more efficient future. Through the help of available grants and its own commitment to sustainability, the Town of Cornwall decided to move forward with upgrading over 500 streetlights from traditional bulbs to energy-efficient LEDs equipped with smart lighting controls. In addition, the Town is also taking it one step further by installing Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at their Town Hall. RTE is excited to work with Cornwall to deliver turnkey smart city-ready solutions including assisting with ongoing maintenance needs.
Turnkey LED Streetlight Upgrade with Smart Controls
The new smart LED streetlighting system will not only provide quality light with fewer energy costs and reduce emissions in the area significantly but smart controls will open the Town to additional capabilities. By installing smart controls, the Town will have a greater sense of control of its lighting system by being able to remotely dim streetlights as needed and receive real-time alerts of damaged or malfunctioning streetlights. This will increase efficiency, reduce maintenance, improve public safety and get the Town smart city ready. They will also save up to an additional 20% in energy costs.
Turnkey Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
The Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) are another example of how Cornwall is making its community more sustainable and accessible for all residents who use electric cars. By providing charging ports at the Town Hall, it helps to encourage people to make a switch from traditional gas-powered vehicles, while also reducing emissions and improving air quality. With an increasing number of EV drivers on the roads, this is a beneficial step taken by Cornwall to ensure that everyone can get where they need to go with ease and convenience while attracting tourists from nearby towns.
EV Make Ready: EV Grant Program
The New York EV Make-Ready Program is offering to cover up to 100% of EV charging station costs in cities and towns across the state. The program has allocated $701 million toward building out the EV charging infrastructure but applications are on a first-come, first-served basis until funds run out. As an approved contractor, we will walk you through the application process and discuss your EV project construction so that you can provide critical infrastructure for your community at a fraction of the cost.
